Catering FAQ
Q - Are the menus customizable?
A - Yes we can easily customize menus as we possess 30 years of catering experience and vast culinary knowledge. We can customize menus based on your ethnic food preferences or special requests.
Q. Do you provide buffet or plated dinners?
A. We prefer to offer family style service for large events as it is more efficient for service. Family style service has gained popularity in recent years as is less formal than a plated meal and more formal than a buffet. We specialize in family style service because it offers a casual and comfortable dining experience.
Q. Do you provide "seconds" for family style service?
A. Similar to a buffet, your guests can help themselves to as much or as little of each dish as they want, but keep in mind that you will need to order additional food at an additional cost if you'd like to ensure that everyone will be able to have seconds.
Q. Do you require a kitchen at the venue we have chosen?
A. No, however it may limit your menu choices (i.e.: seafood, pasta dishes). Culina Catering can prepare all food items off site and deliver it in thermal food warmers. We do require a staging area with adequate tables/counters for plating.
Q. Does the cost per person include staff service charges and rentals?
A. No it does not. We recommend 1 server for every 20-30 people (depending on menu). We charge $27.50 per hour per server (minimum 4 hrs, maximum 8 hrs). We do not provide rentals (flatware, plateware, glassware, linens, tables, chairs) but we DO provide all serving platters and serving utensils for family style service.
Q. Can I just have the food delivered? If so, what is included?
A. Yes. We will charge for delivery (amount depends on size of event and distance. Includes set up and reheating instructions if required. For drop off catering, food will be delivered in disposable foil containers, unless otherwise arranged with your event coordinator.
Q. Do you provide bartending services?
A. We prefer to recommend Bartending Service companies as we like to focus on food only. However some exceptions do apply, please inquire. TIP: whoever is purchasing the alcohol is responsible for getting the liquor license (private non sale special event liquor license - fee is $10) which is now available on line www.aglc.ca
Q. When do I pay for my order?
A. We require a 50% credit card deposit to secure the date. The balance will be processed in full 48 hrs before the event.
